The Wheel

St. Catherine University’s official student news, since 1935.

What can I still do on campus?

What can I still do on campus?

Whether you are living on or off campus this semester, it can be hard to know what is open and available for student use. If you are confused about what services are still offered at St. Kates, below is a compiled list of some popular services on campus and how they have adjusted to safety guidelines in light of the pandemic.

Dining Services

The Dining Hall is open and serving food at this time. Their hours have adjusted slightly to account for sanitization, and half of the tables have been removed to accommodate social distancing guidelines. However, students are encouraged to use the order ahead menu whenever possible. The order ahead menus for all St. Kate’s dining services are located on the Students page of the St. Kate’s website, under the On Campus column. From the order ahead menu, students can design their meal, input their ID to pay, and choose a time to pick up the finished meal.

The Pulse and the Marketplace are also open, again with limited/adjusted hours. Moreover, the new Dew Drop Coffee Shop is open on the second floor of the CDC, overlooking the pond. As the Pulse is no longer serving drinks, stop by the Coffee Shop to get coffee, tea, and other blended beverages. The Coffee Shop also has socially distant seating available, but be mindful of the maximum occupancy rate.

The Library

Except for the use of reservable study rooms and material pickup services, the library is closed this semester. The library will be offering online services such as APA workshops and research assistance when possible, and will continue to best support students in this limited capacity.

Pickup services will still be provided. Items can be requested through CLICsearch, and the requester will be notified via email when the item is available. Visit the library’s webpage for more information about this service.

Health and Wellness Clinic

The Health and Wellness Clinic is still open for scheduled appointments. Mental health appointments will be done virtually through Google Meet to limit contact. Like most on campus services, however, the clinic’s hours have adjusted. They are open 9:30 to 12:00 for general health appointments, before closing for an hour to allow time for sanitization. The clinic will then reopen from 1:00 to 4:00 for COVID testing and sickness appointments.

Right now, the clinic is providing COVID testing for symptomatic patients, as well as for asymptomatic patients who are identified as having close contact with an individual who tested positive for COVID-19. Close contact is defined as being within six feet of the positive individual for more than fifteen minutes, regardless of masks.

If you are looking for more information about health appointments, COVID testing, or other testing locations, please visit the Health and Wellness webpage.

Butler Center

The Butler Center is currently closed until further notice. The Center is working to decide when it will be safe to return, and what that ultimate return will look like. Many games, competitions, and championships for sports teams have also been delayed until 2021 or beyond.

Activities

The Activities Fair is taking place from September 28th through October 2nd. Check it out to see what clubs and organizations are doing to adjust in these strange circumstances. Contact Student Center and Activities at studentcenter@stkate.edu for more information, or if you have any questions or accommodation concerns.
