Relax with a homemade sugar scrub

Relax with a homemade sugar scrub

These are undeniably stressful times. Between classes, COVID, and the presidential election, I’m sure I’m not the only St. Kate’s student in need of a little rest and relaxation. Take a minute to breathe with this easy homemade sugar scrub.

All you need is sugar, oil, something that smells nice, and five minutes of spare time.

Start by pouring one half cup sugar into a bowl.

Next, add just under one fourth cup of oil. I used vegetable oil, but canola or olive will work just as well.

Mix the sugar and oil together. Alter the consistency by adding small amounts of oil or sugar until you achieve your desired texture.

Now, add your chosen fragrance to the scrub. I used vanilla extract, but anything from essential oils to dried herbs will do. Feel free to get creative.

Stir until your ingredients are thoroughly mixed.

Lastly, find a small container in which to store your sugar scrub.

Congratulations, you’ve made your very own sugar scrub! Go ahead and draw a bath.

Give yourself a chance to unwind. You deserve it.
