Test Positive? Stay Positive.

As students of St. Catherine University, we’re all juggling academics, extracurriculars, and personal lives. It's easy to forget how crucial it is to take care of our health. Thankfully, just around the corner of the Butler center there's a Health & Wellness Center right on campus here to help!
More than a typical health office, the Health & Wellness Center offers a multitude of services aimed towards supporting students' well being in all aspects, and most of them are free of cost. Whether you need birth control, condoms, or other reproductive health resources, the Wellness Center has got you. During these challenges of staying healthy during flu season or reliving the Corona Virus the Health & Wellness Center also offers covid and flu testing. These on-campus services make it easier to manage your health without the stress of leaving your studies. The Health & Wellness Center also provides free hygienic products, including menstruation products, dental care, laundry detergent and other personal care items.
To get more insight into the services of the Wellness Center, I spoke with Lauren Peterson, a Physician Assistant with a Doctorate of Medical Science degree, who graduated from St. Kate’s in 2014. She's been the director of the Health & Wellness Center for the past two and a half years and has been killing it ever since. In addition to Lauren, Yasmin Adam, the Health promotions coordinator, shared some advice for maintaining good health during school. "You can’t be your best self if you don’t feel well," Yasmin said. Both Lauren and Yasmin emphasized the importance of getting your vaccines for covid and the flu, washing your hands for 30 seconds with hot water and soap and prioritizing nutrition and sleep.
As the temp goes down, the flu and covid cases go up, so do not neglect the services available to you at the Health and Wellness Center. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You can schedule an appointment through their webpage. Stay healthy, Wildcats!
