The U.S. Department of State encourages universities to participate in International Education Week, a yearly event that showcases the benefits of international education and foreign exchange programs. International education, they claim, will help “prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences”.

St. Catherine International Student Organization (SCISO), takes part in International Education Week every year. SCISO members work on organizing IEW for one week from Monday to Friday and aim to educate the campus community about the international student body here at St. Catherine University.

This year, SCISO will table during lunch hours on Monday with Peer Health Educators. First year international students are giving presentations on Tuesday about their respective countries, Afghanistan, Cambodia, and Pakistan. SCISO members are tabling Wednesday as well to have a better interaction with St. Kate’s community and talk about the international students on campus and around the U.S. On Thursday, Global Studies will have a panel with St.Kate’s students who studied abroad to talk about their experiences as American International students. Lastly, a closing party and international students class meeting will take place on Friday in the Student Org. SCISO will prepare traditional games from different parts of the world. There will be fun and food, and a meeting with the International Senator.

SCISO encourages all students to participate in this week, and learn more about the experiences of international students on our campus as well as opportunities to explore education outside the United States.
