Working all summer? Here’s how to make the most of it!

By Najma Hussein

As we age, summer can mean working long hours to save money for school or other things. But even with a tight budget, there are so many fulfilling activities to make the most of the season! Here are some ideas to turn your summer into a memorable experience:

  1. Head to the farmers market! Dive into the vibrant atmosphere of the Mill City Farmers Market in Minneapolis, where you can get fresh goodies while soaking up the summer vibes. Make it a whole day by getting brunch! The Mill City Market will open for the season soon on May 4.

  2. St. Paul Food Truck Festival: Treat your taste buds to a day full of fantastic food at the St. Paul Food Truck Festival, where you and your friends can try good eats from local vendors. Check out some amazing local food July 13-14.

  3. Picnic with friends: Gather your friends for a chill afternoon picnic surrounded by blooming roses at Lyndale Rose Garden! Also stop by Sonny’s Ice Cream

  4. Kayaking and swan boats! Enjoy a day outside kayaking at Lake Nokomis. You can also head there at night to ride swan boats and enjoy the scenery of the lights!

  5. Watch the sunset at Bde Maka Ska! This one is a go-to for all of my friends! Grab some food nearby and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

  6. Go to a concert with friends! So many artists are coming to Minnesota this year. Get a group of friends together and buy some tickets!

  7. Minnesota State Fair: This is a great place to go annually and have fun while also eating unique foods. The State Fair will be open Aug. 22-Sept. 2.

  8. Create a bucket list and finish it by the end of summer! Bucket lists are so much fun, whether about food, activities or shows to binge!

  9. Go on the alpine coaster in Duluth: If you wanna go on a road trip, Duluth is the way to go! The alpine coaster at Spirit Mountain is so much fun! I would also suggest checking out Black Sand Beach, just an hour from Duluth.
